Apple TV has released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming adaptation of Presumed Innocent by Emmy-winning creator David E. Kelley, based on Scott Turow’s bestselling novel. The series is about about a legal prosecutor suspected of a violent murder.
The eight-part limited series features Jake Gyllenhaal in the lead role as Rusty Sabich, a prosecutor thrust into the spotlight as the prime suspect in the murder of one of his colleagues. The crime sends shock waves through the Chicago Prosecuting Attorney’s office, where colleagues mourn the loss, grapple with the fallout of an affair, and embark on a relentless pursuit of justice through a gripping murder investigation.
Based on Scott Turow’s New York Times bestselling novel, the story was previously adapted into a 1990 film starring Harrison Ford. Expect the drama to take plenty of twists and turns in what looks a juicy dark role for Gyllenhaal.
Alongside Gyllenhaal the cast also includes, Ruth Negga as Barbara Sabich, Kingston Rumi Southwick as Kyle Sabich, Bill Camp, Elizabeth Marvel and Peter Sarsgaard.
Kelley and J.J. Abrams serve as executive producers for the series, under their respective banners, David E. Kelley Productions and Bad Robot Productions.
Presumed Innocent premieres its first two episodes June 12 on Apple TV+, with subsequent episodes airing weekly thereafter.
