Kate Winslet will bring to life the remarkable story of esteemed war journalist Lee Miller in the new film Lee, delving into her internal struggles while documenting the devastation of World War II.
Lee Miller, was a 20th-century American model-turned-photojournalist. Miller reported for British Vogue from the front lines alongside Allied forces in 1944 and 1945. The new teaser sees an aged Miller reflecting on her combat experience with flashbacks as she opens the trailer saying, “Do you think I went to war so people would know my name?”
Her talent and relentless determination yielded some of the 20th century’s most unforgettable war images, notably an iconic photo of Miller herself, defiantly posing in Hitler’s private bathtub. All this she accomplished while grappling with childhood trauma and enduring significant personal sacrifices.
The official synopsis reads, Lee tells the story of Lee Miller, American photographer. Determined to document the truth of the Nazi regime, and in spite of the odds stacked against female correspondents, Lee captured some of the most important images of World War II, for which she paid an enormous personal price.
Alongside Winslet the cast includes, Josh O’Connor, Marion Cotillard, Andrea Riseborough, Andy Samberg, Noémie Merlant and Alexander Skarsgård.
Lee premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in September and will be released in UK cinemas on September 13, followed by a streaming release on SKY Cinema. US cinemas will screen the film starting on September 27.
