A beefed up James McAvoy frightens the living daylights out of his children and houseguests in the English-language remake, Speak No Evil from Universal Pictures.
McAvoy plays an overbearing, perfection-obsessed father named Paddy. Alongside his wife, Ciara (Aisling Franciosi), and their mute son, Ant (Dan Hough), they meet American couple Louise (Mackenzie Davis) and Ben (Scoot McNairy), along with their 11-year-old daughter, Agnes (Alix West Lefler), while on holiday. After hitting it off, he invites the couple for a weekend getaway, but he begins to unsettle them with his aggressive behavior.

The official synopsis for the film reads, “When an American family is invited to spend the weekend at the idyllic country estate of a charming British family they befriended on vacation, what begins as a dream holiday soon warps into a snarled psychological nightmare.”
Speak No Evil is a remake of the chilling 2022 Danish horror film Gæsterne, directed by Christian Tafdrup and based on a script he co-wrote with Mads Tafdrup.

2024’s remake is written and directed by The Woman In Black’s James Watkins and is being produced by horror experts Blumhouse with Jason Blum and Paul Ritchie at the helm.
Speak No Evil appears to be an intriguing psychological thriller, and perhaps James McAvoy has yet more ‘Split’ personalities lurking beneath the surface. The film is set to hit theaters on September 13, 2024.
