Universal Pictures has officially unveiled the first look at Jurassic World Rebirth, the highly anticipated seventh film in the 31-year-old dinosaur franchise. Starring Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, and Mahershala Ali, the film is set to hit theaters on July 2, 2025. This new installment, directed by Gareth Edwards, promises to breathe fresh life into the Jurassic saga, with a script penned by David Koepp, who wrote the original Jurassic Park back in 1993.
The official title, Jurassic World Rebirth, was announced today, the new film picks up five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominio. Executive produced by Steven Spielberg through Amblin Entertainment, this film is expected to deliver the classic prehistoric action that fans have come to expect. Check out the new images below.
The studio has also provided some intriguing details about the characters in Jurassic World Rebirth. Scarlett Johansson takes on the role of Zora Bennett, a covert ops expert with a mission to extract DNA from the three largest remaining dinosaur species. Joining Johansson is Mahershala Ali, who plays Duncan Kincaid, Zora’s skilled and resourceful partner. Jonathan Bailey steps into the role of Dr. Henry Loomis, a paleontologist who provides crucial expertise to the team.
The official synopsis read: “Five years after the events of ‘Jurassic World Dominion,’ the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs. Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures within that tropical biosphere hold the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.”
The Jurassic Park franchise began with the groundbreaking 1993 film directed by Steven Spielberg, based on Michael Crichton’s novel of the same name. The original Jurassic Park introduced audiences to a world where dinosaurs were brought back to life through advanced cloning technology, only for chaos to ensue when the creatures broke free. The film became a massive success, celebrated for its pioneering use of CGI and animatronics, creating realistic dinosaurs that captivated viewers. This film paved the way for various sequels including the Jurassic World movies that were hugely popular.
