Leonardo DiCaprio plays Ernest Burkhart. Set in the 1920s, the film focuses on the FBI’s investigation into the Osage tribe murders in Oklahoma.
The new trailer focuses on DiCaprio’s character, who is caught between two opposing forces, that of his wife and the influence of his uncle played by Robert De Niro, as the multiple mysterious killings occur.

Eric Roth and Martin Scorsese adapted the screenplay from book Killers of the Flower Moon: Adapted for Young Readers: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI.
In the 1920s, the Osage tribe became extremely wealthy after oil was discovered on their land. They earnt more than $30 million in annual revenue at the peak of the boom.
William K. Hale, Ernest Burkhart’s Uncle encouraged him to marry Osage member Mollie Kyle (Lily Gladstone). The murders went beyond the one family, with estimates that 24 Osage Indians died in violent or suspicious deaths throughout the early 1920s. At the time it being called a ‘reign of terror.’

The official synopsis reads: “At the turn of the 20th century, oil brought a fortune to the Osage Nation, who became some of the richest people in the world overnight. The wealth of these Native Americans immediately attracted white interlopers, who manipulated, extorted, and stole as much Osage money as they could before resorting to murder. Based on a true story ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ is an epic western crime saga, where real love crosses paths with unspeakable betrayal.”
