Following the Killers of the Flower Moon premiere, Martin Scorsese then attended the “Global Aesthetics of the Catholic Imagination” conference in Rome. Scorsese’s Italian tour has included a number of screenings of his films and also a private meeting with Pope Francis.
Per Variety Scorsese has announced that he is currently working on a film about Jesus, saying.
“I have responded to the Pope’s appeal to artists in the only way I know how by imagining and writing a screenplay for a film about Jesus.” Scorsese announced during the Rome conference at the Vatican. “And I’m about to start making it,” suggesting this is his next film.

This new project will not be the first time Scorsese has portrayed religion, after films such as Who’s That Knocking at My Door, The Last Temptation of Christ & more recently Silence starring Andrew Garfield.
Martin Scorsese is on a good run of form with The Irishman and currently Killers of the Flower Moon is receiving rave reviews ahead of its October release. There is no one better to handle sensitive subjects and with the Popes blessing, its in the best hands.
