Meet the Power Players for ‘Heads of State’: Amazon Drop New Character Posters

With just weeks to go before its global debut, Heads of State has unveiled a set of character posters spotlighting its four central players. The action-comedy, directed by Ilya Naishuller, will premiere on Prime Video on July 2, delivering an explosive mix of espionage, absurdity, and reluctant heroism.

Idris Elba stars as Sam Clarke, the UK Prime Minister with a military past and a no-nonsense demeanor. His poster frames him in a sharp suit, and a steely glare that suggests diplomacy isn’t his only skillset. Opposite him is John Cena as Will Derringer, the U.S. President whose Hollywood roots haven’t quite faded. His image leans into charisma and bravado, hinting at a leader who’s as comfortable in front of a camera as he is in a crisis.

Jack Quaid joins the cast as a station agent caught in the middle of the chaos, his poster, smiling mischievously positions him as a wildcard—part intelligence, part comic relief. Rounding out the quartet is Priyanka Chopra Jonas as Noel Bisset, an MI6 operative with a mission of her own. Her poster radiates precision and control, suggesting she may be the only adult in the room when things go sideways.

The film’s premise centers on Clarke and Derringer, two world leaders with a famously frosty relationship, who are forced to work together when a global threat targets them both. According to the official synopsis from Amazon MGM Studios: “The UK Prime Minister Sam Clarke and U.S. President Will Derringer have a not-so-friendly and very public rivalry that jeopardizes their countries’ ‘special relationship.’ But when they become the targets of a powerful and ruthless foreign adversary… they are begrudgingly forced to rely on the only two people they can trust: each other.”

Written by Josh Appelbaum, André Nemec, and Harrison Query, the film blends political satire with explosive action. The supporting cast includes  Carla Gugino, Stephen Root, and Paddy Considine, adding further depth to the international mayhem.
