Only last year, Michael Keaton dusted off his Batman suit to reprise his iconic role in The Flash. And now, he has dusted off his director’s chair for the first time in 15 years to direct the new film Knox Goes Away.
The hitman thriller sees Keaton playing an aging assassin who is diagnosed with a rapidly advancing form of dementia. The trailer see’s Keaton’s character ask “How much time do I have?” The doctor replies, “Weeks, not months.” The film will also see veteran actor Al Pacino star alongside Keaton.

He learns that his estranged son, played by James Marsden, needs his help after committing a violent crime. In the trailer, Marsden’s character desperately pleads for help, stating, “I’ve never asked you for anything in my life, but I’m desperate.”
The official synopsis for the film reads as follows: Academy Award nominee Michael Keaton directs & stars in this unpredictable thriller as John Knox, a hit man attempting to make amends before his recently discovered dementia takes over. Aided by a trusted friend (Academy Award winner Al Pacino) with his own shady past, Knox races against the police—and his own rapidly deteriorating mind—to save his estranged son (James Marsden) from a vengeance-fueled mistake and “cash out” before it’s too late.

Knox Goes Away had its premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in September and has since received mixed reviews from critics. Currently, the film sits at 46% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Keaton directs the script written by Gregory Poirier, Knox Goes Away will be released in cinemas March 15.
