MGM+ and Prime Video have announced Noir, a live-action series adaptation of the Marvel comic Spider-Man Noir, featuring Academy Award winner Nicolas Cage in the lead role.
Cage’s memorable portrayal of Spider-Man Noir in the animated hit Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse left a lasting impact. With the strong possibility of reprising the role in Beyond The Spider-Verse, the thought of witnessing him embody the character physically is truly exciting.
The upcoming series, in development since last year, is helmed by Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot, who will jointly lead as co-showrunners and executive producers. Emmy-winning director Harry Bradbeer is slated to direct and executive produce the first two episodes.
The official logline for the series reads: “The story of an aging and down on his luck private investigator in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero.”
Amazon MGM Studios‘ head of television Vernon Sanders commented on the series, stating: “Expanding the Marvel universe with Noir is a uniquely special opportunity and we are honored to bring this series to our global Prime Video customers, The extremely talented Nicolas Cage is an ideal choice for our new superhero and the accomplished producing team with Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, Amy Pascal and the incredible team at Sony is dedicated to expanding this franchise in the most authentic way.”
