HBO unveils a fresh trailer ahead of the highly anticipated release of House of the Dragon’s second season on June 16. Adapted from George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, the series intricately weaves a tale of impending conflict between the Targaryens and the Hightowers.
As Westeros plunges into the fiery chaos of war, the new trailer takes us to The Wall. In a pivotal moment from the season 1 finale, Rhaenyra sends her firstborn son to Winterfell, seeking the allegiance of House Stark. The season 2 trailer offers a glimpse of this, with Jace striding alongside Lord of Winterfell, Cregan Stark (Tom Taylor).
The aftermath of the Season 1 finale, marked by the tragic demise of Prince Lucerys Velaryon at the hands of Prince Aemond Targaryen, sets the stage for an epic clash between these formidable houses. As Emma D’Arcy’s Rhaenyra Targaryen and Olivia Cooke’s Alicent Hightower are fully immersed in their power struggle, going all-out in their fight for dominance.
The trailer sees a tense meeting as King Aegon (Tom Glynn-Carney) points his knife at the others, demanding, “What are we going to do about it?” Queen Alicent Hightower (Cooke) sternly recommends, “Proceed cautiously.” Before Aegon bursts with anger, saying, “F**k dignity! I want revenge.”
Other returning cast members include, Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen, Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower, Ewan Mitchell as Prince Aemond Targaryen and Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys ‘The Sea Snake.’
House of the Dragon Season 2 will premiere June 16 on MAX in the US and SKY in the UK.
