The first reviews for Mike Flanagan’s new horror series The Fall of the House of Usher are heaping praise, with rave reviews coming in. IGN have given it a masterpiece score of 10 and it’s currently sitting with a 95% Rotten Tomatoes score.
It sees ruthless siblings that have built a pharmaceutical empire of wealth, privilege and power. But past secrets come to light when the heirs to the Usher dynasty start dying at the hands of a mysterious woman from their youth.
Flanagan has become Netflix’s go to man for Horror in recent years, he has a number of huge hits under his belt for the streaming giant including The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor & Midnight Mass.
His latest, an ambitious re-working of Edgar Allan Poe’s short story. It Sees pharmaceutical CEO Roderick Usher together with his twin sister Madeline overseeing the vast corporate empire. A shapeshifting demon from his past appears and is hell bent on killing his children and an attorney who is trying to expose corruption taking place at Fortunato Pharmaceuticals. Leaving Roderick now having to confront his own past sins.
The official synopsis for the series reads, “In this wicked series based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe, ruthless siblings Roderick and Madeline Usher have built Fortunato Pharmaceuticals into an empire of wealth, privilege and power. But past secrets come to light when the heirs to the Usher dynasty start dying at the hands of a mysterious woman from their youth.”

The Fall of the House of Usher will be available on Netflix this Thursday October 12.
