Lionsgate have dropped its second trailer for Hunger Games prequel The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. The film is set 64 years before the events of the first movie and stars Rachel Zegler as Lucy Gray Baird and Tom Blyth as a young Cornelius Snow.
The film is based on Suzanne Collins’ 2020 prequel novel of the same name and follows a young Cornelius Snow as he mentors District 12’s tribute Lucy Gray Baird in the10th annual Hunger Games. As we know Snow, decades later will become the ruthless ruler of Panem.

The new trailer gives us a much better look at Viola Davis’ villainous Dr. Volumnia Gaul, a look at the budding romantic relationship between Lucy Gray Baird & Cornelius Snow and a closer look at Snow’s time as a peacekeeper.
The cast also includes Peter Dinklage as Casca Highbottom, the games creator and Jason Schwartzman as host Lucretius Flickermann. Director of The Hunger Games franchise Francis Lawrence returns for the prequel.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is one of the few big films that has kept its release date after the SAG-AFTRA strike, should the strike still be ongoing, actors will be prevented from doing press for the movie.
