As spooky season fast approaches Amazon Prime Video will drop their new horror-comedy Totally Killer starring Kiernan Shipka and Julie Bowen on October 6.
The film follows Jamie (Shipka) and her mom, Pam (Bowen). Pam and her friends were terrorised by a serial killer in the 1980’s. When Jamie goes out on halloween night despite her mothers warnings she is attacked by the infamous killer who murdered her mom’s friends years ago.
Jamie then accidentally time-travels to 1987, right before the original crimes took place, and she has to prevent them from happening in order to return to present day.
Jaime is then forced to get to know the high school version of her mum who is played by Olivia Holt. And she is promptly told by her mum to “F**k off and die.”
In a nice comedic moment Holt asks her “Do the machines kill us all?” in reference to the popularity of The Terminator in the 80’s. To which Jamie responds “No they more just rip apart the fabric of our society via dance videos on TikTok.” With Holt replying “They use dance against us?”
The official synopsis for the film reads, “35 years after the shocking murder of three teens, the infamous “Sweet Sixteen Killer“ returns on Halloween night to claim a fourth victim. 17-year-old Jamie (Kiernan Shipka) ignores her overprotective mom’s (Julie Bowen) warning and comes face to face with the masked maniac and on the run for her life, accidentally time travels back to 1987, the year of the original killings. Forced to navigate the unfamiliar and outrageous culture of the 1980s, Jamie teams up with her teen mom (Olivia Holt) to take down the killer once and for all before she’s stuck in the past forever.”
