Warner Bros. have dropped the first trailer for Wonka the film will be a prequel to the beloved Roald Dahl story Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and stars Timothée Chalamet as a young version of the famous chocolatier.
We will see the young Wonka, before he opens his factory and how he spent time travelling whilst perfecting his recipes. The film also stars Hugh Grant as a CGI Oompa Loompa the trailer shows us Grant’s cheeky take on the iconic orange character. Also starring is Olivia Colman, Sally Hawkins & Rowan Atkinson.

Wonka is directed by Paul King director of Paddington & he co-wrote the script with Simon Farnaby.
In an interview with Vogue, Chalamet has said that he was interested in playing Willy Wonka due to the fact that it would appeal to a younger audience, saying.
“To work on something that will have an uncynical young audience, that was just a big joy.” That’s why I was drawn to it. In a time and climate of intense political rhetoric, when there’s so much bad news all the time, this is hopefully going to be a piece of chocolate.”

Willy Wonka has been played by Gene Wilder in the 1971 movie and by Johnny Depp in Tim Burton’s 2005 revision, now for the first time we will see an alternate version of Wonka come to the big screen.
Wonka will be released in theaters December 15, 2023, you can watch the trailer below.
