MGM have released the trailer for Luca Guadagnino’s latest film Challengers, which is billed as a romantic sports drama.
The film stars Zendaya as rising tennis star Tashi Duncan, she attracts the attention on and off the court of fellow players and best friends, Patrick and Art, played by Josh O’Connor and Mike Faist. The trailer shows the three become engaged in a steamy love triangle when they are just teenagers.
Fast forward, Tashi and Art are married. Patrick comes back on the scene, when he enters the challengers competition, only to find out he will play former love rival Art, sport and life drama ensues.
The films official synopsis reads. “three players who knew each other when they were teenagers as they compete in a tennis tournament to be the world-famous grand slam winner and reignite old rivalries on and off the court.”
