‘Fallout’ Season 2 Wraps: Next Stop, New Vegas

The wasteland wait begins as Fallout season 2 ends shooting.

Production on the second season of Fallout has officially finished, marking the end of months of shooting and the beginning of a long wait for fans. Walton Goggins, who plays fan-favorite Ghoul, celebrated the wrap in characteristically dramatic fashion—by peeling off his prosthetic makeup in a slow-mo farewell. It’s safe to say: the wasteland warrior is off duty—for now.

With the cameras off and editing about to begin, we’re one step closer to revisiting the radioactive ruins. This time, we’re heading to a familiar landmark for fans of the games: New Vegas. The neon-lit wasteland city was teased in the finale of Season 1, and now it’s confirmed as a central setting for the upcoming season.

Ella Purnell, who plays vault-dweller Lucy, also shared a behind-the-scenes photo with her on-screen father, Kyle MacLachlan, signaling the end of filming. Their journey—both familial and nuclear—appears to be far from over. As Season 1 closed, Hank MacLean fled in power armor toward the Mojave, setting Lucy and The Ghoul on a collision course with whatever lies beyond.

Season 2 looks set to expand the scope of the series while deepening its characters’ arcs. According to Goggins, the new episodes elevate the show to “a whole ‘nother level,” her told GamesRadar, promising surprises even he didn’t see coming. With the foundations laid in Season 1, the writers now have the freedom to play big—and weird—in a world already defined by chaos and irony.

Todd Howard, the steward of the original game franchise, has said the show will honor the spirit of Fallout: New Vegas while still forging its own path. Set roughly 15 years after the game, the series will blend fresh characters with a deeper lore, threading the needle between nostalgia and newness. And with Goggins, Purnell, and Aaron Moten returning—plus the addition of Macaulay Culkin as a “crazy genius” type—the cast isn’t short on firepower.

There’s still no release date, but if post-production mirrors Season 1, we may be seeing the next chapter drop in spring or summer 2026. Until then, fans can rewatch Season 1 on Prime Video and prepare for a return trip to the Mojave—where the stakes are higher, the lights are brighter, and the danger’s always just around the corner.
