First Look at ‘Fallout’ Season 2’s New Vegas Setting As Season 3 is Already Locked In

‘Fallout’ doubles down as season 3 is already locked in!

Amazon’s Fallout series isn’t slowing down. Before season 2 even hits screens, Prime Video has already greenlit a third installment of the post-nuclear drama. With over 100 million viewers tuning into season 1, the numbers left little doubt—this wasteland saga has legs.

The next chapter will see the story shift to a major landmark from the beloved game series: New Vegas. Confirmed as the core setting for season 2, the neon-blasted desert city first appeared in the final moments of the debut season. Production on the second season has already wrapped, and the show is now deep into post-production. The series is now officially set to premiere this December—a welcome surprise, given earlier expectations had it delayed until at least early 2026. We got our first look, below, at New Vegas during Amazon’s Upfront 2025 Presentation.

Season 2 will continue where the explosive finale left off. Lucy, played by Ella Purnell, is headed into the Mojave with the Ghoul at her side. Their mission? Track down the shadowy leadership of Vault-Tec. Meanwhile, her father Hank (Kyle MacLachlan) has disappeared into New Vegas wearing Brotherhood power armor—and a truckload of secrets.

The show’s ensemble also includes Aaron Moten as Maximus, the former soldier-turned-knight, and Walton Goggins as the Ghoul, a fan favorite with a tragic backstory. Goggins, whose character was revealed to be Vault-Tec exec Cooper Howard before the bombs fell, marked the end of filming in dramatic fashion. His slow-motion removal of prosthetics said it all: the gunslinger’s taking a break—at least for now.

Speaking to GamesRadar, Goggins teased what’s ahead. “A whole ‘nother level,” he said of the new season, adding that even he was caught off guard by the twists. With the groundwork laid and the world built, the creative team is free to push the limits of what this bizarre universe can offer.

“We are absolutely thrilled that our global Prime Video customers will be able to delve deeper into the wonderfully surreal and captivating world of Fallout,” Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, said in a statement. He praised showrunners Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner, as well as executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, for bringing the franchise to life.

With New Vegas on the horizon and season 3 already locked in, the wasteland isn’t going anywhere.
