James Gunn’s Superman is inching closer to its July 11 release, and fans just got a fresh peek inside the Fortress of Solitude. The new image, shared exclusively by ScreenRant, shows David Corenswet’s Superman in quiet conversation with Krypto the Super-Dog, while one of the fortress’s robots stands by in the background. It’s a serene moment, one that suggests Gunn’s take on the DC icon might lean more into heart than spectacle—at least for a beat.
This glimpse inside Superman’s icy headquarters follows a brief teaser shown ahead of A Minecraft Movie, where Superman was seen returning to the fortress to recover. If that sneak peek raised questions about his condition, the new still suggests he’s now firmly back on his feet—and surrounded by friends, even if one of them is canine.

Gunn’s Superman marks the first full entry in DC Studios’ revamped universe, with Corenswet taking over the cape from Henry Cavill. While past versions of the Fortress of Solitude often felt like cold, crystalline echo chambers, Gunn’s version looks more animated. Robotic attendants, visible tech, and of course, Krypto lends the location a little warmth—figuratively, at least.
Speaking to Deadline, Gunn said he wanted the new Superman to reflect “a movie about kindness. It was a movie about being good.” The presence of Krypto and the fortress robots seems to reinforce that philosophy. Rather than isolating Superman, his headquarters now feels like a home base—functional, yes, but also lived-in and grounded.

This fresh take on Superman arrives as the first chapter in Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DCU. Projects like Lanterns, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, and Clayface are already in various stages of development. But Superman carries the pressure—and promise—of kicking it all off. Judging by this small moment of stillness and introspection, it might strike a different chord from the stoic heroes of DC’s recent past.
But between Corenswet’s classic look and Gunn’s signature mix of humor and sincerity, the film is already shaping up to be a significant pivot for the franchise. A man of steel—sure. But maybe this time, one with a little more soul. A new trailer is imminent, we’ll keep you updated.
