Sony Pictures has unveiled a brand-new trailer for Kraven the Hunter, offering a new look at the origins of Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s portrayal of the iconic Marvel character, as well as a first glimpse at the formidable villain Rhino. Sony will look to build on the success of their previous Spider-Man villain films like Venom as they gear up for the release of this highly anticipated movie.
Kraven the Hunter focuses on the iconic Spider-Man villain, first introduced in the 1964 comics. The story follows Sergei Kravinoff, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who is abandoned by his father, a ruthless hunter portrayed by Russell Crowe, after a brutal lion attack. The bite from the lion mysteriously grants Sergei extraordinary abilities, transforming him into Kraven the Hunter. Embracing his new powers, Kraven becomes a formidable force, using his violent instincts to defend the animal kingdom.
Following over a year of anticipation since the first teaser, Sony Pictures has now released a second trailer, ramping up excitement as the film prepares for its December theatrical release. The latest trailer for Kraven the Hunter builds on the suspense left by the previous teaser, which introduced Alessandro Nivola as Aleksei Sytsevich, also known as the Rhino.
In this new trailer, we get a closer look at Nivola’s character, including a brief but intense showdown between Rhino and Kraven on what appears to be the African savannah.
In an interview with Rolling Stone UK earlier this year, Taylor-Johnson shared what drew him to the role of Kraven the Hunter.
I think there was something unique about this character, and something grounded. We’ve all had enough of seeing certain studio films, a certain kind of pop culture… where they’re churning out stuff that dilutes wanting to go to the cinema. I wouldn’t have signed onto it if I felt there wasn’t something to really bring to life with this character.

Directed by J.C. Chandor, known for his work on Netflix’s Triple Frontier, Margin Call, and the crime drama A Most Violent Year, his new film promises a darker narrative, earning an R rating that suggests a faithful adaptation of the character’s comic book origins.
Kraven the Hunter will be in theaters worldwide on December 13, 2024.
