‘The Accountant 2’ Starring Ben Affleck Sets Release Date Following Original’s Streaming Success

The Accountant has become a Netflix hit!

After nearly a decade since Ben Affleck’s original film became a box office success, The Accountant 2 finally has a release date. The sequel to Affleck’s 2016 thriller has been long anticipated, with development stretching over several years. Momentum picked up in January 2024 when Affleck and Jon Bernthal confirmed their return, soon followed by original cast members J.K. Simmons and Cynthia Addai-Robinson.

A renewed interest in The Accountant was sparked earlier this year when the original film made its way into Netflix’s Global Top 10, eight years after it grossed over $155 million at the box office. This streaming success has heaped anticipation onto the sequel.

The plot of The Accountant 2 centers on Addai-Robinson’s character, Treasury Agent Medina, as she teams up with Affleck’s Christian Wolff and his brother, Brax, played by Bernthal, to investigate the murder of her former boss.

The synopsis for the film reads: “When her former boss is killed by unknown assassins, Treasury Agent Marybeth Medina (Addai-Robinson) is forced to contact Christian Wolff (Affleck) to solve the murder. With the help of his estranged but highly lethal brother Brax (Bernthal), Chris applies his brilliant mind and less-than-legal methods to piece together the unsolved puzzle. As they get closer to the truth, the trio draw the attention of some of the most ruthless killers alive — all intent on putting a stop to their search.”
