Lionsgate have dropped a trailer for their upcoming heartwarming tale Arthur the King starring Mark Wahlberg. The film is based on Mikael Lindnord’s book Arthur: The Dog Who Crossed the Jungle to Find a Home.
Michael Light (Mark Wahlberg) is an adventurer and captain of his adventure racing team. The team embark on a grueling 10 day, 435-mile race. Light is desperate for one last chance to win and he convinces a sponsor to back him and his team for the Adventure Racing World Championship held in the Dominican Republic.

During the race Light befriends and feeds a wounded stray dog. The trailer shows the team 200 miles into their journey when he notices the stray has miraculously followed them, the dog then prevents them from walking off the edge of a cliff.
The heartwarming story depicts the athlete’s last chance at glory and the bond he develops with the dog he names Arthur, as he joins him on his journey, they build an incredible bond.

Directed by Simon Cellan Jones, and written by Michael Brandt, alongside Wahlberg the film stars Simu Liu, Juliet Rylance, Nathalie Emmanuel, Ali Suliman and Paul Guilfoyle. British adventurer and television presenter Bear Grylls will also appear as himself in the film.
Arthur the King will be in theaters March 22, 2024.
