In an appearance at the Dell Technologies World 2023, James Cameron told the crowd that he is currently working on a new Terminator movie but will wait to see how AI affects the real world saying he is “holding off on finishing it until the direction of AI becomes clearer.”
Terminator has spawned many sequels with the sixth Terminator: Dark Fate being released in 2019. It was a massive box office flop, Cameron seems eager to put that right given his patience on his latest terminator project.
Arnold Schwarzenegger Is Done With The Terminator
Cameron may be keen to revive the franchise but Arnold Schwarzenegger certainly is not. Schwarzenegger recently declared that he is DONE with the Terminator saying in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
“The franchise is not done. I’m done.” “I got the message loud and clear that the world wants to move on with a different theme when it comes to The Terminator.”
Schwarzenegger continued.
“Someone has to come up with a great idea.” “The Terminator was largely responsible for my success, so I always would look at it very fondly. The first three movies were great. Number four [Salvation] I was not in because I was governor. Then five [Genisys] and six [Dark Fate] didn’t close the deal as far as I’m concerned. We knew that ahead of time because they were just not well written.”
Looks like Arnie’s Terminator has finally retired to the scrap yard.
