As well as pulling Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine out of retirement, Marvel will now bring back Jennifer Garner’s Elektra after nearly 20 years.
The Marvel Studios production is currently shooting, with Ryan Reynolds reprising his role as fan favorite Deadpool for the third time. Garner’s involvement may hint at some sort of multiverse plot, yet these details are under wraps & Marvel have yet to comment on or confirm Garner’s return.
Jennifer Garner first played the assassin in 2003’s Daredevil alongside Ben Affleck. She then went on to headline her own movie Elektra in 2005. At the time Garner was one of few women to lead a studio comic book film. Her performance was lauded but it achieved only mild box-office takings, only just breaking even.
She has also recently starred alongside Reynolds in Netflix’s The Adam Project.
Deadpool 3 is being directed by Shawn Levy, the screenplay is from Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. It’s set to make history as being the first R-rated film in the MCU.
