It’s been 19 years since Cary Elwes’ Dr. Gordan cut off his foot in Saw 2004 to escape John Kramer aka Jigsaw (Tobin Bell). The Saw franchise has continued to torture people and audiences ever since and it will continue furthermore in October this year with Saw X.
The plot is still under wraps but with Lionsgate teasing the following.
“The return of Tobin Bell to the franchise furthers Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures’ goal of a film that captures everything Saw fans love about the franchise, while also keeping them guessing with all new traps and a new mystery to solve.”
So with Tobin Bell returning, along with the knowledge that Shawnee Smith reprises her role as Amanda Young speculation is that this will be a prequel that may be between Saw 2 & 3.
With Tobin Bell’s John Kramer dying in Saw 3, he has only appeared in flashbacks since. Lionsgate teasing his return suggests a much more prominent role. Shawnee Smith’s returns also adds fire as her Amanda Young once a victim of Jigsaw became a most gruesome ally of John Kramer.
Kevin Greutert returns to direct Saw X, after directing Saw VI in 2009 and Saw: The Final Chapter: Saw 3D.
Saw X will be released in theaters September 29, 2023.
