Taking inspiration from its mega hit Squid Game, Netflix have created a reality series that will see 456 real people compete in challenges based on the deadly Korean series that took the world by storm in 2021, it will also introduce some new games as players battle for the huge $4.56 Million pot, which only one will take home.
The trailer gives us a glimpse of the scale of the show, as we see the hundreds of contestants participate in the shows famous ‘Red Light, Green Light.’
Although the reality version will not be a matter of life & death, the stakes are still huge as contestants fight for the life changing sum of money.
The show has already had some controversy after contestants required medical assistance during the shoot, which took place in the UK, including one person that had to be stretched off.
During a cold snap in the UK, people collapsed on set from a combination of cold and fatigue. With The Sun reporting, one exhausted player was stretchered away and others had to crawl to the finish, with one player quoted as saying “It was like a warzone. People left in tears.”
The official synopsis for the show reads “456 players will compete to win $4.56 million, the largest cash prize in reality television history. Through a series of games, each player will be pushed to their limits and forced to ask themselves just how far they’ll go to win, with opportunistic alliances, cutthroat strategies and timely betrayals to follow.”
